Honoring the Past, Boldly Shaping the Future🪽
As Anne-Sophie Mutter prepares to celebrate the 50th anniversary of her international debut between 2026 and 2028, she has announced two major musical initiatives that are both visionary and retrospective.
🦋Project I: The New Series — 《ASM Forte Forward》
Ms. Mutter is launching her own exclusive recording series, 《ASM Forte Forward》, under the Alpha Classics label. Between 2026 and 2028, this series will release four new albums featuring contemporary works specially composed for her. The inaugural album, 《East Meets West》, is set to debut in March 2026.
"I am forging new paths for myself and my Foundation. This series represents courage, independence, and an openness to new ideas—values I want to pass on to the next generation."
For the first time, Ms. Mutter will serve as the producer for these recordings and will collaborate with scholarship recipients from her Foundation. This marks a daring new chapter in her career as she leads the way into the future.
🦋Project II: DG Classics Retrospective — 《The Nature of Anne-Sophie Mutter》
Ms. Mutter will also partner with Deutsche Grammophon (DG), her collaborator of over 40 years, to re-release iconic recordings. Highlights include a vinyl reissue of the 1978 Mozart Violin Concertos Nos. 3 & 5 with Herbert von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic. Furthermore, she will personally curate a series of digital albums themed around "Cities," such as 《Anne-Sophie Mutter & London》 (launching February 2026), tracing her artistic evolution across the world’s most significant musical hubs.
"Music creates dialogue and brings people together; it is the most beautiful and important thing for our world today."
As she celebrates this historic milestone, Ms. Mutter is not only pioneering the future of music but also returning to her roots with a grateful heart.
She will return to the venues that shaped her legendary career for commemorative concerts, including the Lucerne Festival (where she debuted in 1976) and Salzburg (1977). In addition, Ms. Mutter plans to perform several benefit concerts to raise funds for international organizations, proving once again that music spreads love and care around the world.
So far she has given world premieres of 34 works – Thomas Adès, Unsuk Chin, Sebastian Currier, Aftab Darvishi, Henri Dutilleux, Sofia Gubaidulina, Witold Lutoslawski, Norbert Moret, Krzysztof Penderecki, Sir André Previn, Max Richter, Wolfgang Rihm, Jörg Widmann and John Williams have all composed for Anne-Sophie Mutter. She dedicates herself to supporting tomorrow’s musical elite and numerous benefit projects. Since January 2022 she joins the foundation board of the Lucerne Festival.
In the autumn of 1997 she founded the Association of Friends of the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation e.V., to which the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation was added in 2008. These two charitable institutions provide support for the scholarship recipients, support which is tailored to the fellows’ individual needs. Since 2011, Anne-Sophie Mutter has regularly shared the spotlight on stage with her ensemble of fellows, Mutter’s Virtuosi.
